let it be spring?

Mk, this weather has got me so confused. I mean one day we are freezing to death because it drops to 40 degrees (call us cry babies, but that's cold to North Carolina folk) and the next its nearly 70.
I can't take it anymore.

Ok, so, since we are having spring weather...mine as well make the most of it!
umm, yes, exactly what we did. We enjoyed the spring weather.

This is Reese's first playground experience since she was born.
We had so much fun. Just look at those sweet baby faces with the sunshine beaming on them.

Sweet moments in the making...

If its snowing where you live, I'd love to hear about it, even see a picture, and just know that I am super jealous. However, I hope you are safe and enjoying the snow. ;)

mackey update...iphone style...

So I've been taking pictures like a mad woman with my new iPhone. I mean it's just ridiculous really.
 I'm an iphoneaholic.

If you wanna skip this reading, the pics are at the bottom of this post...

I haven't been keeping up on blogging. I'm horrible. Let me update you on the Mackeys...

So with the lil ladies....
Rylee is turning 5 in 2 weeks!!! Crazy right?? I know! So with the help of Pinterest, I'm planning a pretty cool little "Rockstar" party... but honestly for Rylee - as long as there are balloons and birthday cake, I'm "mommy of the year".
Also let me just brag about how smart she is...we've been working on sight words and the beginning steps to reading lately, and she's brilliant at it. Sure, every parent thinks their child is the next Albert Einstein, heck I know mine thought that about me, but it just amazes me everyday to watch her learn...
Our little Miss Reese got her first black eye :( poor baby girl - 8 months old and thinks she can walk... instead leads to tears and bruises. I can't even take her in public for fear someone will think I did it.
On a happier note, she's little miss curiosity- Rylee was "slow" to reach baby milestones. I mean she wasn't walking until she was 14 months!! And my Reese is already attempting it! My big/baby girl.
Reese is still a "booby baby", if you will, and getting her to eat solid foods can still sometimes be a challenge...I think she has a boob addiction. And I don't think I'm alone here, several chicks from our boob school are dealing with this too.

Everyday I'm wanting to freeze time and just hold onto every minute. I try to capture each one of our days in picture and in their journals I've made for each of them. I strive to record every milestone, every funny moment, every "first times". I don't want to forget any of it, ever.

As for me and the Mr. - we're perfect. I swear I love him more everyday.. Our children are so lucky to have him too.

I've been upping my cooking skills lately! Trying out new recipes, and such!! It's awesome! And with this phone - seriously, I'm waiting on it to cook the food for me!!
I'm also working on sewing some Barbie clothes lately...it's a work in progress.

We're planning vacations, Birthday parties, and enjoying these cold days together...making memories...

Update complete...I promise I blog more.
Happy weekend!

pictures update...

Reese pulling up...

...birthday lunch with Gammy...

this is love

my big girl who is in love with lipstick and eyeshadow lately

happy baby in the grocery store...I'm lucky, because everytime I go to the grocery store, I see screaming babies
(Great, I just totally jinxed myself)

playing at the dentist office...4.4 years of perfect teeth for Rylee

my new favorite pic of the little ladies....seriously, the attentiveness and love from Reese as she watches in such awe of her big sister, Rylee - who is "so serious about her music"

definetly Mommy's girl...for now...well, except when she sees her Daddy walk through the door...
What can I say, theses little girls love their Poppa

'Twas the Night Before Jesus Came

I love this...and I think you will too...

'Twas the night Jesus came and all through the house
Not a person was praying, not one in the house.
The Bibles were left on the shelf without care,
For no one thought that Jesus would come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And mom in her rocker with baby in her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the east there rose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and lifted the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here!
The light of His face made me cover my head--
It was Jesus returning, just as He said.

And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.
In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.

He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said, "It's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I'd known that this was the night.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is now drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all.

haha, best. Christmas. pictures. ever.

Warning: the pictures below will make you laugh and most of all, miss stone wash jeans.

My mom kept every single Santa picture from my first Christmas until I was 10 and emailed them to me!
This is the best Christmas gift ever...

Although I believed until I was 12...my little sister let the secret out. Unfortunate.

Nonetheless, these pictures bring back sweet memories.
I definetly love Christmas.
I definetly love Santa.
I'm smiling in almost every single one...because Christmas is amazing.

1984...that Santa makes me smile, he seems so cuddly.
1985...I'm guessing Rudolph's nose was so bright, this Santa needed sunglasses?

1986...purple puffy coats
1987..matching panda sweaters...

1989...I don't know what's cuter, my hand on my sister's leg or the hair cut...just call me "bangs"

1990...you love these jeans right? how about the bangs....again? And where is Santa's face?

1991...the jeans, the perm, the precious holiday sweaters..everything about this pic says awesome.

1992..I know what you're thinking..."didn't they have these same adorable holiday sweaters on last year?" well, yes, yes we did. But this year we have stone wash jeans with a fanny Christmas patch.
And my hair...it's straight again!

1993...crimped hair. enough said.
jeans that maybe I bejeweled myself?
And is this the same sweater from 1991?

1994...rebelling against the traditional Christmas colors? yes.
but matching the socks with the sweater? always.

Hope your holidays are fun and full of special memories!

Christmas parades and marshmellows..

Holiday festivities make us smile.

And so does...
Horses galloping.

cuddling up to stay warm..

ginormous parade floats/balloons..

post parade food devouring

ok, we attend Tanglewood's Festival of Lights every, single, year.
Yes, its the same 2.2 million lights every single year.
Yes, its the same long line of cars waiting hours to get through.
But it's a Christmas Tradition...

My sister and her hubs joined us for a fun filled evening of dinner and lights..

baby, its cold outside.
And my coat makes me look like I'm stashing 4 kids inside it. hmmph. not cool.

now all we needed was snow.

but marshmellows, hot chocolate and apple cider will do..

my family roasted marshmellows...

and for the first time ever in my life...I roasted marshmellows...

I'm not a good "marshmellow roaster"...(these babies have not a hint of golden color)

but Mike is a marshmellow burner.....yowza!

how Christmas-y and fun..

May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace,

The gladness of Christmas give you hope,

The warmth of Christmas grant you love.
